Special Education |
| The approach to teaching special education is to provide an environment for each child that will give the child a feeling of accomplishment, enhance self-esteem, and develop a sense of responsibility. Each student is treated as an individual and all programs are set up with this in mind. An interdisciplinary team of regular and special education staff and parents develops goals which will promote academic success. Resource Specialist Program - Inclusion in regular education classes and study skills classes for academic assistance, and specific instructions in reading and math for students with identified needs. Learning Handicapped (LH) Program - Inclusion in some regular education classes, specific instructions in reading and math for students with identified needs, and study skills classes for academic assistance. Adaptive Physical Education Program - Meets the needs of the physically handicapped child when identified through an IEP. |
