In the Seventh Grade, students will study world history and geography from AD 500 to AD 1700, including social, cultural and technological contributions to the modern world, including:
- Geographic Influence 2 Archaeological links to the past
- Greco-Roman Influence 2 Development and influence of
- Culture and contributions of Islam monotheistic religions
- pre-Columbian Civilizations: 2 Sub Saharan Empires:
Maya, Aztec, Inca Ghana, Mali, Songhai
- Crusades and rise of towns 2 Medieval China and Japan
- Protestant Reformation 2 Medieval Europe, Feudalism
- Age of Exploration 2 Renaissance
- Scientific Revolution
- These studies will be integrated with art, music, research and writing

In the Eighth Grade, the social studies program seeks to incorporate a variety of teaching strategies to foster an understanding of how events in our nations history affect our students lives today. We encourage an understanding of our multi-cultural society, utilizing critical thinking and analysis, and identifying cause and effect, by studying the following major thematic areas:
- Building a New Nation, Review of Colonial America and The War of Independence
- The Constitution of the United States
- Westward Movement and Manifest Destiny
- Sectionalism, Slavery and King Cotton - Causes and events leading to The Civil War
- Creating a More Perfect Union - The Civil War and Reconstruction
- The Rise of Industrial America - Reform Movements, The Plight of the Native
Americans, Industrial Technology and Labor
To achieve the goal of History: A Story Well Told, we incorporate the use of simulations, computer technology and the expertise of the Lakeview Junior High staff.
